Thomas (Tommy) Richard Smith
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia August 2nd 1944
Raised in Goode, Virginia
Attended New London Academy School
The son of piano technician and businessman Harry V. Smith and homemaker Helen M Smith.
Tommy became interested in music at an early age, singing in local talent contests.
A self taught guitar player, Tommy moved to Richmond, Va. in 1968 in hopes of broadening his musical horizons.
There he became the lead guitar player for the Pete Pike Show playing many local venues around the area.
After working with Pete for a year or so Tommy was invited to join the national and international touring band, Teenie Chenault and The Country Rockers.
In 1978 Tommy moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a songwriting career. Tommy’s songs have been recorded by many country and pop music stars including George Jones, Garth Brooks, Engelbert Humperdinck and Tracy Lawrence.
T V and film credits include the movies “ Men Of Honor” and ”Nurse Betty along with hundreds of T V shows and commercials including Mercedes Benz, Kelloggs Corn Flakes and CSI New Orleans.
Tommy now resides between his two residences in Gladstone, Va. and Newport News, Va. and continues to write and record.
